When preparing for Sukkot this year (also known as the Feast of Tabernacles), I came across this photo scavenger hunt and decided that it would be fun activity to add to our week! I tried to be in as many photos as possible, but the kiddos are in several as well!
Here was the challenge put out by the Adonai Shalom Blog.

Selfie with a warm autumn drink– My favorite warm drink in ANY season is coffee, but that’s not necessarily particular to Autumn, so I took an extra with some hot apple cider as well!

Selfie near a firepit or campfire

Selfie with Sukkah lights (and the hubby!)

Selfie with lulav and etrog– Lulav and etrog includes the four species that are scripturally commanded to be brought into the Sukkah- these four are willow, palm, myrtle and citrus. We don’t have many of these nearby so we bundled together some fake branches to symbolize these four species and two lemons from Eliza’s play kitchen. We hung these from the top of our Sukkah.

Selfie with scripture– I really enjoyed sitting with scripture and journaling in the early mornings before it got too hot!

Selfie with something Israeli– we went with our shofar!

Selfie with a worship instrument

Selfie in front of a Sukkah– our family in front of our sukkah!

Selfie with a Sukkot snack

Selfie decorating part of a Sukkah– Levi and I adding some decorative touches to the inside of our sukkah.

Selfie wearing tzitzit– we didn’t actually have any, but we made some of our own by braiding together white and blue string, leaving the fringes on the ends.

Selfie beneath the stars or moon– I’m not in this one because my camera isn’t good enough to get me and the moon in the same shot, that’s why I only gave myself 2 points for this one.

Selfie with a friend near a sukkah

Selfie sitting inside a Sukkah

Selfie with harvest vegetables– We took a trip to the pumpkin patch, so we had a plethora of harvest vegetables there!

Selfie demonstrating Simcha– I actually had to look up what Simcha means in Hebrew. But it means “joy” or “gladness,” which is essentially the heart of Sukkot. A celebration of JOY as we look forward to dwelling in eternity with the Father!

Selfie with Hebrew letters– I have a couple of these- all from a book called 50 Hebrew words every Christian should know. I thought that these were particularly relevant to this week. The cloud of glory led the Israelites through the desert and we are called to remember how God provided for and protected the Israelites in their journey.

Selfie with Autumn leaves– um, so we live in Texas, where we don’t get Autumn leaves or colors until closer to December, so fake leaves will have to suffice for this one!

Selfie with something you can’t live without– okay, I really have no idea what I can’t live without, other than my family, so I’ve got nothing for this one.
Selfie with your favorite Sukkot meal or dessert– this isn’t really my favorite, but it is something that we always eat during sukkot- s’mores (with vegan marshmallows). And the other Sukkot staple is these little graham cracker sukkahs that the kids always make during the week and that is by far their favorite Sukkot snack!

Well, there you have it! It was just for fun, not for any sort of actual competition, but I enjoyed the extra challenges!
